New figures reveal the number of patients using medical cannabis oil UK has doubled in the space of one year. There are now an estimated 250,000 users across the UK – up from the 125,000 recorded this time last year.
Mike Harlington, chairman of the Cannabis Trades Association UK, medical cannabis oil UK, revealed around 65% of these are women seeking relief for anything from pain relief to anxiety and epilepsy.
The figures come after two middle-aged women recently revealed how cannabis oil helped to eradicate one of her crippling back pain, and the other her cancer.
The Case of Mike Cutler and Medical Cannabis Oil UK
Mike, 63, was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2009 and was given a transplant. But in late 2012 he learned cancer had attacked the replacement organ.
In desperation he began researching online and found a YouTube video advocating the use of medical cannabis oil UK for cancer.
He decided to try it and claims that three days after taking the banned drug his excruciating pain disappeared. Two weeks later he began coughing up blood, which he believes contained the dead cancer cells.
“I couldn’t accept that I was going to die. And when I found I was cured I was completely shocked”
The grandfather-of-nine went for a biopsy at the Royal Free Hospital in London in May and doctors told him the cancer cells had gone.
Retired builder Mike, of Hastings, East Sussex, recalled: “Finding I could die was terrible, so I began searching for something that could help me.”
“I’m a normal family man, not a druggie. But I had a serious illness and this helped. I can’t believe cannabis oil isn’t being used regularly as a treatment. It is a miracle cure. The NHS should use it.”
Mike resorted to illegally buying the substance from a dealer and used it to make his own tablets, taking one a day.
He is now campaigning for law changes to allow medicinal use of cannabis.
Mike’s claim came as research published by the University of East Anglia revealed the main psychoactive ingredient in cannabis, Tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, can help fight cancerous cells.
Dr Peter McCormick, from the university’s School of Pharmacy, said: “THC has anti-cancer properties. This compound is known to act through a specific family of cell receptors. We have provided an important step towards the future development of therapeutics to reduce tumour growth.”
A number of organisations, including Cancer Research UK, are investigating the medical use of cannabis. Cannabinoids are known to affect brain and nerve activity, energy metabolism, heart function and the immune system.
The Royal Free Hospital confirmed that Mike has received no further cancer treatment since his transplant.
Michelle Aldrich Cured in 4 Months Using Cannabis Oil
The rise in Medical cannabis oil use in the UK was inspired by the numerous case studies emanating from both the US and Canada, pioneered in part by Rick Simpson.
One such case was recently reported. Medical doctors and healthcare personnel alike were stunned by the miraculous cure which recently occurred to Michelle Aldrich who suffered from a deadly form of lung cancer.
Michelle was sixty-six years old at the time. Initially she developed a low-grade fever and cough which she couldn’t shake. Several months later it worsened; she developed signs of a pneumonia which prompted her to seek medical care. Her doctor ordered a CT scan trying to determine what the problem was. The scan revealed a large mass in the central region of the chest consistent with lung cancer.
Unfortunately, the biopsy and staging of the tumour revealed it to be poorly differentiated, non-small cell lung cancer (adenocarcinoma) or NSCLC for short, stage three. All lung cancers carry a poor prognosis, but this form is particularly aggressive.
Michelle was classified with having stage three or T3, involving a number of regional lymph nodes in the chest. A T4 staging means distant nodes were found to be positive for tumour metastasis. Five-year survival vastly decreases from T3 to T4.
Surgically resectable (cutting out of tissue or organs) disease is generally stage I, stage II and selected stage III tumours. Generally, T3 and T4 use combination modalities since surgery cannot be used solo for cure. One must also use chemotherapy and or radiation.
At best using conventional medicine Michelle had an approximately 49% five-year survival and that’s with only local tumour involvement. It drops quickly as you can see from above down to 2% five-year survival with distant stage disease.
“I thought I was going to die,” Aldrich says. But she didn’t. And now, she is busy telling anyone who will listen that, along with diet and chemotherapy, a concoction of highly concentrated cannabis oil eliminated her cancer in less than four months.
Initially diagnosed in January of 2012 and by April 2013 a repeat CT scan showed a reduction in tumour size of 50%. The remaining tumour was surgically removed. Repeat CT scan showed no tumour present anywhere in the chest.
The Landmark Medical Cannabis Oil UK Case of Billy Caldwell
Billy Caldwell, from Castlederg, Northern Ireland, made headlines in April when he became the first Briton to be prescribed CBD on the NHS.
An 11-year-old on the brink of death from a severe form of epilepsy has made an ‘incredible’ recovery since taking medical marijuana.
But his treatment actually began last November, when he was given cannabis oil by specialists in the US in hope it would control his vicious seizures.
And now, 10 months since he was first given the liquid cannabis oil, he has not had any seizures. He used to suffer up to 100 a day.
Born with intractable epilepsy and learning disabilities, Billy has since cheated death thousands of times, his mother said.
Charlotte told Derry Now: ‘Following extensive treatment with CBD oil, Billy is now more than 300 days seizure free.’
There has now been a brand of CBD based medicine named after him called “Billy’s Bud”
The 49-year-old, who is her son’s full-time carer, also told ITV News earlier this year the change has been ‘incredible, because one seizure ca
