Medical Cannabis Oil – Online Scams

Medical Cannabis Oil – Online Scams

By Cannabis Cure Team on November 3, 2021

Introduction

Sadly, as more people become aware of Medical Cannabis, more scammers are becoming aware, and are scammers those in need. We would suggest watching the short clip from Rick Simpson, which explains that he is not affiliated with any websites that claim to work with him.

How Medical Cannabis Oil Scammers Scam The Sick And Vulnerable

As research has confirmed the effectiveness of cannabis-based medications in treating serious life-threatening conditions, inevitably there has been a spate of unscrupulous cannabis oil scammers offering cannabis oil for sale, usually over the Internet.

They use social networking sites such as Facebook and Instagram to find customers and many of them appear plausible, even claiming to be medical professionals affiliated to nonprofit organizations.

Social media pages and web-based email addresses (Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo) are immediate red flags. These are free platforms that require no identification to set up and cannabis oil scammers can disappear as quickly as they appear.

snake oil cannabis oil scammers

Snake oil salesmen were notorious in the old Wild West during the 1800s and the name became synonymous with conmen selling potions and tinctures that they claimed were made from rattlesnake venom and medicinal herbs that would cure any known ailment.

The bottles contained nothing of the sort and were a complete scam. The only difference they have with today’s cannabis oil scammers is that the victims actually got their bottle of fake medicine.

Cancer Research Offer This Warning Regarding Cannabis Oil Scammers

Cancer Research UK has an excellent website with contact numbers you can ring for advice. They strongly advise against making cannabis oil purchases online.

This is due to the number of scammers conning patients. You can also contact us for more information about legitimate suppliers in complete confidence. Their latest warning states:

“There is also a reported case where a Dutch lung cancer patient took cannabis extract that had been bought from a street source. Within a matter of hours, she was in hospital in a coma. This highlights the risks of taking ‘street’ cannabis extracts of unknown concentration and quality in an uncontrolled way and accentuates the need for careful research into how best to use cannabinoids for treating patients.

Furthermore, there are other risks associated with using the black market or homemade preparations of cannabis, particularly cannabis oil. For example, there may be toxic chemicals left from the solvents used in the preparation process. There is also a risk that pesticides found in cannabis crops may be concentrated in these preparations – recent research from California suggests high rates of such contaminants in samples from a range of different sources.

Finally, we are also aware of internet scams by people offering to sell cannabis preparations. As well as the risk of getting something with completely unknown chemical or medicinal properties and unknown effectiveness, there is a strong chance of receiving nothing at all from these cannabis oil scammers. We have also become aware that scammers are tricking cancer patients and their families into handing over money for “cannabis oil”, yet receiving nothing in return.”

> THC CBD Cannabis Oil UK Medical Use Only < (Facebook Page Yet Again)

We were contacted by a very upset patient who asked for help after being scammed by these people operating in this instance from a Facebook page they have called ‘ THC CBD Cannabis Oil UK Medical Use Only’.

cannabis oil scammers

They are a group of scammers operating from Cameroon. This is her unedited message:

“They put me in touch with someone called Tricia Wilson and asked me to send money to a western union account in Cameroon. It seemed so genuine I got emails from her that made me think it was genuine.

I got told she was a very kind-hearted woman and when I couldn’t afford what they asked she gave me £70 off and then I got an email which went into my spam folder on the day it was supposed to arrive from deliveries @ europe.com saying I had to pay more for insurance. ‘Tricia’ said just pay them and I had trouble setting up the western union payment so she said pay me and she would pay them. She said we have come this far and she would never deceive me. I trusted her to be genuine. I paid the extra and since then I can’t message them on Facebook and she has not responded to any of my emails asking what’s happened. I sent them my address and I’m scared somebody is going to come from Africa and beat me up or damage the house or something. I have 81-year-old parents here. I feel so stupid and let down.”

Another victim contacted us about this group who still operates blatantly on Facebook. We have reported them on behalf of the victims and Facebook has done precisely NOTHING! as is to be expected.

“I’ve just been scammed by the ‘THC CBD Cannabis Oil UK Medical Use only’ Facebook page. I searched loads before sending any money and for some reason, I never came across your page until after the money was sent. I’m also worried, like the lady whose message you posted. About African scammers having my home address. Do you know if there were any repercussions for her or whether it was just money lost? I can live with £70 less in my pocket but I can’t live in fear of being burgled by Africans.”

Facebook refuses to help once again so our second victim takes matters into his own hands and we receive a brief email update.

I emailed the people and told them I’ve informed the police in Douala, Cameroon about their scam and they have deleted their page….success!

We will leave this post up as it serves as a warning for others. These scammers will surface again, but it is great to know there are people who refuse to be victims.

If you actually receive your purchase, which is the main issue, these cannabis oil scammers will be selling low-grade cannabis oil that they have generally produced themselves.

The extraction process they use will mostly be substandard and none of the oils will have been laboratory tested.

Cannabis oil scammers will ask you for several thousand dollars for their oil, claiming they have successfully treated anything from depression to cancer.

Do not fall victim to these cannabis oil scammers who prey on sick and vulnerable people. Below is a laboratory test of cannabis oil purchased via the Internet from a known scammer. The high THC-A content indicates that this oil hasn’t even been decarboxylated and has no medical value.

The cannabinoid content is quite possibly less than you would find in hemp oil from the supermarket.

Shown to contain only trace activated cannabinoid content. Correctly made oil should be 70-80% activated cannabinoids.

More Angry Cannabis Oil Scammers

Email correspondence from the person or persons claiming to represent an organization they call ‘Hemp For Victory.

Never buy any cannabis oil from these sources, the oil, if it ever arrives, will be of no medical use and the advice given is in many cases is irresponsibly dangerous. We know of one of these cannabis oil scammers (see below) who not only sells 60 grams of low-grade cannabis oil (that has no laboratory test certificate) for £2,040.00 but advises in badly written English,

“Please do not use any kind of doctor medication during our hemp oil treatment control.”

The emails are shown here as received, they are unedited and the grammar is poor. Initial reply to request for oil by activist posing as a terminal cancer patient:

“We can supply you 60 grams for the first 90 days which will cost you 34 pounds per gram, plus VAT and shipping to see how our first-grade hemp oil works, and please do not use any kind of doctor medication during our hemp oil treatment control. 60 gram of first-grade hemp oil will be delivered to you per your requirements in the total sum of £2,040.00 GBP British Pound – Lynn or Robert +44 ***** **** (sic. Number removed).”

After being emailed back and confronted by the activist who also inquired how they can charge tax (VAT) on a prohibited substance they replied:

“Why do I waste my time explaining to senseless people. It’s easy for an eye to make the oil during research, but you will only understand what it takes in getting the marijuana before making this oil and we are not worried about the jealousy of other scumbags – Regards, Lynn or Robert” (sic.)

The replies became more abusive and threatening and the activist broke off contact.

More Social Media Scammers

The following is typical of the email-generated scams that are commonly circulated on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram by cannabis oil scammers and are designed to target the sick, vulnerable, and sometimes desperate.

Please do not purchase any cannabis oil from these people. These posts are a little more plausible to their intended victims as they will come from fake profiles, generally with a female name and image, and an effort is made to use correct grammar and spelling:

A Similar Scam Involving More Posts On Social Media

Generally, the English grammar is poor and they tend to originate from African cannabis oil scammers.

cannabis oil purchased online not from cannabis oil scammers

The images above show correctly made cannabis oils and tinctures that have been made from specific cannabis strains bred to contain significantly higher amounts of CBD.

These were sourced online from a reputable oil producer who supplied a laboratory test certificate indicating the cannabinoid content and profile.

CBD is an important cannabinoid particularly for treating breast cancer, however, research indicates it needs to be administered alongside THC.

CBD is shown to enhance the effect of THC as well have to have anti-cancer properties itself. These oils were made from a strain called Shark Shock from the CBD crew and contain an almost exact 1:1 CBD/THC cannabinoid profile.

Another Favourite Scammers Technique

This scam involves posting nonsense like this on respectable blogs that try to openly discuss cannabis-based medication.

I think you are getting the idea now – first red flag? Yep, free web-based email accounts. Second and third red flags? You’ve got it, poor grammar and ridiculous claims;

“A potency of 90% THC and 51% CBD which has been the successful song in our family.”

Beware Of Social Media Scams Offering Cannabis Oil And Tinctures

You will more than likely not receive your order, if you do it will be of little use as a medicinal preparation.

There are many scammers purposely misleading victims by selling hemp oil (made from commercial hemp and available in most good health stores) as full-spectrum cannabis oil. Hemp oil is a great health food supplement but is not suitable for treating serious illnesses.

One Dutch oil supplier working off Facebook even goes so far as to have an online PDF catalogue that offers cannabinoid-based preparations for sale via mail order.

Alongside plasma bracelets and a host of other expensive and useless new-age type supplements; he will supply you cannabis tinctures, capsules, and oils.

These types of dealers should be avoided. They make ridiculous claims with regard to their cannabinoid preparations and intentionally mislead victims. They are plausible and have been quite aggressive and self-righteous with us when confronted, but they’re still cannabis oil scammers and cynically operate by exploiting victims’ desperation and lack of understanding about cannabis preparations.

cannabis scammers

This is from one online PDF catalog that offers tinctures for sale to cure everything from “bacteria” to “chronic Illness”. They used to be called snake oil salesmen in the old wild west and the product descriptions alone should be a red flag to anyone who has done their research before deciding on the type of medication they require:
Apparently, you can cure anything from “bacteria” to “seizures” with a ridiculously low 8% CBD concentration, diluted in salad dressing oil  – on sale for €58.50!

The RSO (cannabis oil) has no cannabinoid profile – just an obscure reference to Indica and Sativa strains that make no sense whatsoever – on sale for €62.50!.

The RSO and CBD offered for sale have both been diluted in a cheaply available oil: These products are of absolutely no use whatsoever for “chronic illness”, “cancer” “seizures” or “MS” etc.

Omega 3 is simply fish oil / Omega 6 is basically vegetable oil.

Describing these products as organic is intentionally misleading and intended to reassure victims. Current legislation requires producers to obtain special certification based on government-defined standards in order to market herbal medicines as organic.
